The talk next week is at Hub Cafe on Thursday, July 21. We will be presenting some of our findings from the project so far- with lots of pretty pictures! Plus the event will go to support the project. Here's the details:
People arrive between 6 and 7 pm. Collect a bowl of soup and fresh bread and get a seat at a table. Dinner service stops and the talk will begin at 7.
Cost per person is R160.00 and we share 1/3 of the turn over to the project. We will also be selling our caracal wine and stickers!
The talk is around 45 minutes plus time for questions.
See you there!
The Urban Caracal Project: what can we learn from these urban wild cats about resilience in the face of habitat change?
Solitary and elusive, caracals (aka ‘rooikats’ or ‘lynx’) often escape human notice – and yet they live right on our doorstep. Join us as Dr. Laurel Serieys, project coordinator of the Urban Caracal Project, introduces us to these shy, but charismatic, wild cats. Dr. Serieys is also working with Cape Leopard Trust, University of Cape Town and SANParks to uncover how the caracals are adapting to city life, the factors that may threaten their long-term persistence, yet also their amazing resilience in the face of rapid urbanization in the Cape Peninsula! Learn more about the research at UrbanCaracal.org and Facebook.com/UrbanCaracal
Join us for an evening co-hosted by Neethlingshof Estate to find out more about the Cape Leopard Trust and the importance of protecting this endangered species. The evening starts with canapés and a presentation by Dr. Laurel Serieys, followed by a leisurely three-course food and wine pairing dinner in Azure Restaurant – including a taste of the Neethlingshof unique ‘Caracal Red Blend’
Price: R 515 per person (Includes 3-course menu, wine and gratuity)
A donation of R 50 will be made to the project for each person attending the event.
